Donate Items
Our pantry is a vital service that is available to all of our clients. It's stocked with nonperishable food items, personal care items, cleaning supplies, and more. You can support this crucial service by donating items to our pantry.
To arrange a delivery appointment for donations, please contact our development department by email (marianneb@gracesmithhouse.org) or phone (845-452-7155, ext. 136). Donations are accepted by appointment only, Monday - Friday, during regular business hours. Donated items must be dropped off at our administrative office in the City of Poughkeepsie.
Please note: we DO NOT ACCEPT CLOTHING at Grace Smith House. Please see below for alternative organizations.
Clothing: New or gently used clothing can be donated to the following stores, where our residents can shop for free:
1) The Barn Thrift Shops, 845-473-1501
*The Barn has made some changes in the wake of COVID-19. Donations will ONLY be accepted at the Barn Again location, located at 853 Dutchess Turnpike (Rt. 44) in Poughkeepsie. Barn Again will only receive donations Wednesday thru Friday. noon - 4 p.m.
2) Ben & Gracie's Thrift Shop, 404 Manchester Rd. in Poughkeepsie; 845-454-0006
Clothing can also be donated to our community partner, the Dutchess County SPCA, to benefit the animals it serves. It's located at 636 Violet Ave. in Hyde Park; 845-452-7722
Are you a group looking to help Grace Smith House? Consider holding a Pantry Drive:
1. Check our list of current needs: We keep an updated list of our pantry items above, but we also make posts on Facebook and Instagram with our most crucial needs.
2. Hold your drive: Now here’s where the fun comes in! We’ve had groups hold pantry drives in all different ways; some encourage employees to bring a can of soup to the office and others hold an all-day events where participants can come by with items.
3. Contact us to make your donation: Our administrative staff is available to process donations Monday-Friday, 9-5. Please call 845-452-7155 ext 136 or email office@gracesmithhouse.org to set up a donation time. Donations happen at our administrative building, by appointment only.
4. Share your success! Make a post on social media or email your friends to share your success with your pantry drive. You might inspire someone in your network to create their own pantry drive!
